PLATFORM
What makes me special is that I'm not. I don't have deep connections to any political organization, my friends and family aren't big public figures, and my name isn't recognized outside of the communities I serve. I'm just a normal working American, just like you, and that's why I want to go to government to make it work for you too.
QUICK LIST OF ISSUES
Education and Childcare
-
PROP 123 - YES. Why is this in question? FUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
-
ESA's - NO. Needs accountability at a minimum, but ultimately public schools should be prioritized.
-
Public Childcare - YES. Daycare is too expensive. People can't afford to work and have families.
-
Red for ED - YES! Not only is my wife a teacher, I too spent a large part of my career in public school. There's so much wasted opportunity and potential because the budgets are too tight. FUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
Race, Culture, International affairs
-
Identity politics - A waste of time. Most issues are about respect. Please respect one another and their wishes.
-
ICE - RACIST. National SB1070, the "Papers, please" law. An international embarrassment.
-
Trump - Bad. Greenland is and will always be part of Denmark. Canada will not be the 51st state. Venezuela should be left alone.
-
Israel - Genociding Palestine. The US should stop supporting the genocide with weapons. Put forth every effort into a ceasefire or two-state solution.
Affordability, Housing, and homelessness
-
Affordable Housing - YES. Prevent corporations from owning homes. Limit rent. Restrict municipal zoning laws from preventing mixed-use or advantageous zoning.
-
Homelessness - Problem. Offer housing and assistance.
-
Gas and Groceries - Too much. The government has a responsibility to curb inflation and regulate these prices.
Healthcare
-
Healthcare - TOO EXPENSIVE. I fully support universal healthcare. At the very minimum, a public option like making AHCCCS available to anyone who wants it.
-
ACA Subsidies - A bandaid. But necessary for immediate relief.
Environment
-
Green energy - Yes, but not at the cost of high gas or car prices. We should invest in solar, wind, etc., but not divest from fossil fuels until it makes sense to.
-
Nuclear - ABSOLUTELY. It is a good intermediary between fully renewable energy and divesting from fossil fuels. The Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, one of the largest nuclear power plants in the United States, is right here in LD25!
-
Replacing cars - Not so fast. Too many Americans rely on their cars for everyday travel, to work and to the store. A transition is necessary, but at the ease and convenience of the common American. Affordability is in crisis, it does not make sense to burden Americans more by forcing a transition to public transit or purchasing an EV.
